About the Role

Systems Manufacturing company located in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a highly motivated individual for a Field Service Technician position.

Chemco Systems specializes in the design and manufacturing of bulk chemical storage handling and feed systems for the Carbon Capture industry, Water and Waste water treatment industries, and industrial air & water pollution treatment. These systems require precise, automated controls through the use of system PLCs. Chemco’s systems typically consist of combining dry powders with water creating various slurries. Typical systems consist of material storage, feeding, weighing, mixing and pumping along with all instrumentation and custom programmed logic for each system.

The Field Service Engineer role is for a self-starter that receives assignments and performs duties with little guidance from management.

You do not need to be based in Pittsburgh to be considered although it is a plus.

Responsibilities/Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical and electrical support during start-up phases of project. This includes ensuring functional operation of the system, verification of operational performance, and review of the basic operational functions of the equipment.

  • Trouble shoot existing systems, recommend upgrades, and establish/maintain customer relations

  • Perform maintenance and operator training.

  • Ensure troubleshooting tasks in mechanical, electrical / electronic, fluid and pneumatic systems.

  • Document service activities on a daily basis. Tracks expenses and submits reports to main office on a job-by-job basis.

  • Consistently seek and suggest methods to improve systems and processes within the organization. This includes reports on field observations/trends, design limitation, etc. for reliability improvements on systems.

  • Ensure the companies policies and guidelines are adhered to at all times.

  • 65-70%+ travel required.


Requirements

  • An associate’s degree or technical certificate in a relevant field or previous experience in a similar role is preferred.

  • Must be able to read blueprints, wiring schematics and piping & instrumentation diagrams.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Proficient in the use of mechanical and electrical measuring instruments.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and diagnostic skills.

  • Ability to work well independently.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Windows (network configuration).

  • Understanding of Programmable Logic Controller language (ladder logic & function block logic).

  • Valid driver’s license.
